his kit contains a cylinder that has been championship ported by ESP (Earth Surfer Products) - intake, exhaust, and transfer ports have been enlarged/reshaped for more fuel/air flow and hence more power. The cylinder has also been modified to accept a +2mm (30mm) stroker crankshaft. 


ESP “New Generation”, 30.5cc PUM racing conversion kit.

 

ESP and RC Innovations tries their best to sell what they race with. Many races and championships world wide have been won by “up and coming racers” using a ESP engine right off the RC Innovations shelf. This conversion kit comes with everything you need to change any Zenoah PUM engine into a 30.5cc monster eater (accept PUM cases center gasket). This ESP Championship Ported (36mm bore, 30mm stroke (or +2mm stroked)) 30.5cc top end kit helped Dick Loeb set the IMPBA 1/4mile timed oval World Record in Franklin Virginia in early 2013, using Donnie Padgett’s Whiplash sport hydro hull. The cylinder porting is set up well for the 2mm stroked crank, using high duration intake and exhaust port time, a .005” thick copper cylinder gasket, squish band and combustion chamber work done (Higher compression for poor air quality days, and squish cut at .020“), and a Zenoah sealed 3rd crank shaft bearing. Use the 2mm Zenoah marine crank, (RC Innovations part # dd327), with the Zenoah sealed 3rdbearing (RC Innovations part # dd271---which replaces the large diameter crank seal) , for more crank stability under high RPM and hard loads. Only Zenoah cranks offers full support (bearing ID/shaft OD) for the 3rd crank shaft bearing. The kit also comes with the Zenoah piston if you want more top RPM power (at the expense of a little corner pulling power), and will add 4 degrees of duration on the intake port time, 1 to 2 degrees of duration on the exhaust port time, and a bit less compression. You may find a simple piston swap (both pistons use the Zenoah ring and Zenoah “top rod end” parts) will help make this 30.5cc engine a bit more versatile for different types of racing.
 
If you were thinking of trying one of the new generation PUM 30.5cc mills  in your Hull for Racing or Recreation, pick one with top quality workmanship, (all work done in house by Doug @ ESP), with each cylinder dimensionally the same as the last, (sans future design changes). Pick one that always offers top notch service (RC Innovations and/or ESP) that does not end after the sale has been made. Pick one that can win races, but is still about as reliable as a stock G260 PUM (due to top quality workmanship and design). Pick one that does all this, without picking your wallet. This top end kit is only designed for use with 30mm stroke ZENOAH crankshafts. Stock 28mm crankshafts and CY 30mm crankshafts will not work
